Acceptance

On acceptance of the Emergency Safety and Eye Wash ensure the basic alignment of the structure is square and level.

Dependent on the condition of the on-site portable water supply should determine if an in line filter is required on the mains supply pipe.

The thermostat on the immersion heater should be set at 20°C. This factor should be checked to ensure the Control of Legionella Bacteria.

Check the overall contents of unit considering the time period for active use must not be less than 15 minutes.

Construction

The Shower is constructed of non corrodible materials with self lubricating valves including an automatic return on the tread plate to shut off the over head drencher when the shower is vacated. Due to these features there is no general maintenance required on privet joints or moveable fittings.

Weekly Test

To ensure the water is suitable for flushing of chemicals on exposed skin it is advisable to remove the retained water in the tank each week and install a fresh supply.

To obtain the fresh water simply hold down the tested lever for approximately 10 minutes on the 915 at litre tank and 15 minutes on the 1310 litre tank.

Yearly Maintenance

The tank may require cleaning each year. Visual inspection will confirm if this is required. If the tank is to be cleaned and the water removed it is essential that the electrical supply is turned off before closing the mains water supply.

The water retained at the base of the tank, approx. 100 mm deep can be removed by opening the ½”dia gate valve on the underside of the tank.

The tank will then be available for general clean of the inside surface.

The top of the eyewash nozzles can be under screwed by hand and the fitters cleaned by a low pressure jet of water through the opposite direction of the general flow.

Check that the main valves to the overhead trencher and eye wash returns to a closed position when shut off to avoid any dripping to surrounding area.

The shower will then be ready for a further year’s active use inclusive of a weekly water change.
